I obtained this brochure today from Pete Aguilar’s campaign office.  It is a handout that the campaign is using as they canvass California’s 31st Congressional District ahead of the June 3, 2014 Primary.

Congresswoman Gloria Negrete McLeod Announces Campaign for County Supervisor

Chino, California – Congresswoman Gloria Negrete McLeod announced her campaign for San Bernardino County Supervisor today.  Negrete McLeod will run in the fourth district, which includes the cities of Chino, Chino Hills, Montclair, Ontario, and portions of Upland.

    Statement from Negrete McLeod:

I have chosen to seek election to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and not reelection to Congress.  This was a decision not made lightly.  However my desire to represent this community locally, where I have lived for more than forty years, and where I have long served as an elected official, won out.  My federal, state, and local experience will allow me the opportunity to effectively represent the constituents of the Fourth District.

It is a great honor and privilege to have represented the constituents of this district for almost two decades in many elected positions including Congress: but my heart is here in the District.  I am committed to serve the remainder of my congressional term with the same steadfast dedication that I have always given as a public servant whether as a Chaffey Community College Board Member, a California Assembly Member, or a California State Senator.

My commitment to the residents and the district is unwavering!

A 44-year resident of Chino, Congresswoman Negrete McLeod has an unparalleled record of winning elections in San Bernardino County.  She won election to the Chaffey College Governing Board in 1995 and 1999, State Assembly in 2000, 2002, and 2004 and State Senate in 2006 and 2010.  In 2012, she was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Negrete McLeod currently serves over 68% of the fourth Supervisorial District in Congress.  She previously represented large portions of the district in the State Assembly and State Senate and served all communities in the district on the Chaffey College Governing Board.

She and her husband Gilbert McLeod, a retired police lieutenant, have 10 children, 25 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren.
