Amelia Sanchez Lopez Gigi Hanna

I have devoted a great deal of coverage to Gigi Hanna in the General Election, but I have received two direct mail pieces from Amelia Sanchez Lopez in the past week, a once piece mailer on Saturday, two days before the ballots were mailed, and a four page color brochure I believe on Tuesday which came simultaneously with the ballot.  I will post them soon; things have been hectic lately.

The four piece mailer has a great deal of information on it, and I will go into in more detail later.  The front has endorsements from former San Bernardino Mayors Judith Valles, Tom Minor and Evlyn Wilcox and current (or elected) Council members Chas Kelley, Robert Jenkins, Wendy McCammack and John Valdivia, along with important labor groups San Bernardino City Professional Firefighters Local 891, the Central Labor Council of the AFL-CIO, the San Bernardino Public Employees Association and the San Bernardino Police Officers Association.  It also gives contact information: Phone number (909) 882-7085, email:, and   Though she has a Facebook page, there is no link to the page, and it is not a publicly viewable Facebook page.

The second page has an interview with the candidate answering why Amelia Sanchez Lopez decided to seek the office of City Clerk, what qualities make her the best candidate, and what her top priorities are as the new City Clerk (should she be elected).  The second page also has some biographical information, showing Amelia Sanchez Lopez’s connection to the City.

The third page gives some information about the Office of the City Clerk, shows why the police and firefighters are supporting Amelia Sanchez Lopez, and details information about the election.  The election is vote by mail only, and the ballots have to be received by the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters no later than February 7, 2012.  This is a run-off election, technically a general election, whereas the November 2011 election was a primary or nominating election, with the top two candidates moving on to the general election.

The last page of the mailer has more about the endorsements under the headline
